Well, this is my assessment of our second day. I think all my fine friends are simply grateful that they didn't melt! Hot, hot, hot...we're talking sizzling, baby. Between an afternoon gym class and a very warm lunch room...enough said! (Was this ONLY day 2?) Ho hum...I was able to introduce some basic classroom guidelines with these kiddos, however, DID cease and desist from overloading them (at least I tried!) During this second day we managed to complete a couple of Team Building activities, something I hope to continuously work on throughout this entire year. I'm still focusing on some group dynamics and how we model those positive listening and behavior skills always keeping in mind all these fine friends are works in progress (as am I). KINDNESS is our theme and will always remain so. That being said all listened to a lovely story, "Every Little Kindness" concerning all those opportunities to make best decisions in order to help others and the powerful rippling effect of those decisions.
Favor #1: Could you allow your kiddo to bring a small rock (No boulders allowed) to class tomorrow. I plan on demonstrating first-hand the rippling effect of all our deeds/words/actions...
Favor #2: I would like each child to bring in an EMPTY PRINGLES container perhaps some time next week. I plan to use these as a means of sharing positive notes in a bit of a personal way. Cute idea, right?
I'm quite sure I should be sharing additional tidbits, however, I'm just plain tidbitted out! (Pssssst...don't you think tidbitted should be a real word?)
Enjoy the rest of your day and keep cool!
Mrs. D. :-)
