My brain is currently searching for a freezer...even frozen brain cells are a plus over melting ones. I am quite happy to report that we will begin exploring several of our new books tomorrow! SUPERKIDS, here we come. Today the kiddos continued to spend quite a large part of our day working in groups in an effort (supreme) to understand collaboration and the value of individual as well as shared responses. Displayed kindness remains our focus. Speaking of kindness, our great pal, Miss Ellis, brought her 6th graders downstairs to our classroom wherein they became the instructors for the "Duo Lingo"program using Chromebooks. This is a program to teach early Italian vocabulary to young learners (as our Italian classes will begin sometime in September). Talk about great teachers! All assistance is so appreciated...collaboration at its best!
OK...brain freeze on the way. Time to defrost and continue merrily working away you-know-where. Thanks so much for reading along on this, our 85th...oops!...third day! Mrs.D. :-) (as in Defrost) Well, this is my assessment of our second day. I think all my fine friends are simply grateful that they didn't melt! Hot, hot, hot...we're talking sizzling, baby. Between an afternoon gym class and a very warm lunch room...enough said! (Was this ONLY day 2?) Ho hum...I was able to introduce some basic classroom guidelines with these kiddos, however, DID cease and desist from overloading them (at least I tried!) During this second day we managed to complete a couple of Team Building activities, something I hope to continuously work on throughout this entire year. I'm still focusing on some group dynamics and how we model those positive listening and behavior skills always keeping in mind all these fine friends are works in progress (as am I). KINDNESS is our theme and will always remain so. That being said all listened to a lovely story, "Every Little Kindness" concerning all those opportunities to make best decisions in order to help others and the powerful rippling effect of those decisions.
Favor #1: Could you allow your kiddo to bring a small rock (No boulders allowed) to class tomorrow. I plan on demonstrating first-hand the rippling effect of all our deeds/words/actions... Favor #2: I would like each child to bring in an EMPTY PRINGLES container perhaps some time next week. I plan to use these as a means of sharing positive notes in a bit of a personal way. Cute idea, right? I'm quite sure I should be sharing additional tidbits, however, I'm just plain tidbitted out! (Pssssst...don't you think tidbitted should be a real word?) Enjoy the rest of your day and keep cool! Mrs. D. :-) Dear Parents,
Guess who's still in school? Guess who's had multiple cups of coffee? Guess who's in need of more coffee? Yours truly, Mrs. D.! What can I say? My home-away-from-home is taking shape for the new school year, thanks to the technological wizardry of both Mrs. French and Miss Ellis. Talk about a support system! Not to worry, my blossoming will soon mirror Ms. Blossom* herself. *Ms. Blossom is the Grade 2 teacher in the SuperKids reading series. Please remember that I send daily updates during the school year (which will include news-y items, reminders, and home education assignments) so check back at this blog on my new Weebly site (Thanks, Mrs. French!). See you soon! ~Mrs. D. : ) |
